  5. Hi Fehl,

I’ve recently gone back again to investing and I’ve been reading your posts for the past several weeks. Seems like your top five hasn’t changed and the suggested BBPrices hasn’t moved at all even as the stock prices are going down. Are both the stock picks and prices still good today especially as we look into a week of ECQ? Thank you.

    Reply
    • Hi Eric, the stock picks here are good for long term. It will take a while before they reach their target price because of pro-long cause of pandemic and the return of ECQ. However, we see it as good opportunity to buy the dip and correction. The world needs more time to recover, likewise the market. Stay safe and healthy 🙂

  6. Hi! I recently started investing because stock prices dropped this pandemic. I currently have shares in BDO, BPI, JFC, ALI and SMPH. Their prices are continuously rising but I want to buy more of their stocks. Is it okay if I buy more even if I acquired my current stocks in much lower prices? If so, how long do you recommend I hold all of my investments? What other companies would you say I add in my portfolio? Thank you so much.

  7. Hi Ms Fehl,

    Any particular reason bakit bumaba?

    Thank you po ulet.

  8. Hi Madam,

    Salamat!!

    • Hi Wendell, salamat sa mensahe 🙂 Market condition and stock valuation change over time. Because of that, we adjust the target and buy-below price. Most of the performance of companies decline this year due to the pandemic. We expect a significant rebound by 2021. To avoid losses, hold your shares. What you see right now is unrealized loss. Only you can make them “real” if you sell or close your trades. Keep safe and God bless 🙂

    • Hi, Queenie. Sad to hear you have ABS shares. The company is suspended in the PSE. The PSE also requires ABS CBN to submit a full disclosure on the impact of non-renewal of its franchise, financial status, and business plans for the future. Investors and shareholders of ABS are waiting for that compliance so they can trade or sell their shares in the PSE again.

  16. Hi Madam,

Just a question involving the current situation in the ph market. My current strategy in the market right now is long term investing. But since solving the covid crisis is still uncertain, the more riskier it gets for the businesses and this scares investors. How confident are you that the current prices right now will recover in the future assuming that the the pandemic still continues throughout the year? Thank you in advance! 🙂

    Reply
    • Hi Karl 🙂 The pandemic is a big wake up call to investors to choose wisely where to put their money and to invest only in stable companies. As a long term investors, I’m always with the market (not against the market) so I’m always confident my money will grow in 5 years or more. Prices may not recover this year but there will surely be recovery in the future. Smart long term investors cannot miss opportunities like this to buy more.

Assuming low prices of stocks continue throughout the year, not a problem to long term investors because they don’t get scared when prices fall. They actually like it coz they buy more. It worries short term investors who want to cut losses. But good traders know what to do. They do hedging, invest in ETF, treasury bonds, gold or any asset that they find profitable. Cheers!

Really appreciate this site – learned so much in such a short amount of time!!

    Thank you

    Reply
    • Hi 🙂 Yes, but with the blue chips only. Buying during recession and market crash will reward you in the future when the market recovers. It is important you choose only those companies with potential and well established.

      Reply
    • Hi 🙂 Only you know how much risk you can tolerate 🙂 Also those are unrealized losses, if you close them, you already lost. The question is, can you still hold on?

      Reply
        • You should not worry if the companies you are investing for long term are valuable, well established, and with good balance sheet. This market cycle will pass and normal days will happen again 🙂

  21. Hi mam, yung meaning po ba ng board lot is the minimum number of shares you can buy on a particular company? Like board lot 10, 100, 1000?

    Reply
    • Yes, because the PSE uses a minimum Board Lot or round lot system that specifies the minimum amount of shares one can buy or sell. The minimum amount of shares will depend on the market price of the stock. Example, if the price of stock you want to buy is P188, the minimum boardlot is 10. You can then buy shares in 10, 20, 30 and so on as long as it’s divisible by 10.

  22. Hi Ms. Fehl, earlier, my AC stock was on 25% profit. But after Pres. Duterte’s tirades on Ayala and MP groups after the discovery of some onerous provisions in the water concession contract, it’s now 5% loss. My other heavily affected stocks are ALI (9% loss) and MPI (27% loss). My AC stock is for long term, while ALI and MP are for flipping. What do you think will be the future of these stocks if the government files a case against Ayala and Pangilinan? Should I cut loss now? Thanks in advance.

    Reply
    • Hi, no worries, all global markets (not just PH) were down the past few days. PH economy was also affected by global market correction and just recently, China virus. If the government filed a case against those companies, stocks will surely fall but I don’t think it’s gonna be a massive decline. It’s not advisable to cut loss now while the iron’s still hot. Let the dust settle for a bit. All companies face some scandal at some point. As a long term investor and who believes on those companies so much, it’s a great time to buy on the dip 🙂

  28. Hi Fehl,
I started investing in JFC but not as BIG 5 Strategy but for Flipping since the price is so undervalued as of today. Actually na hit niya na yung 2 year Lowest price niya (217php) which makes me interested to buy more of JFC. The sudden decline I think dahil sa acquisition nila sa CBTL (Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf).
Will you include this as well sa UnderValued list niyo? Tingin mo mas bababa pa lalo price niya?
Nabasa ko rin sa news na makakabawi rin naman ang JFC so would you recommend it for flipping?

    Reply
    • Hi 🙂 The sudden decline was caused by CBTL, yes and also the market is down due to US and China trade war. Last week NASDAQ and S&P500 were down, as well. Today, Asian markets are on decline. I think everything will recover soon so it’s wise to invest now while stocks prices are on dip.

Gusto ko pa naman sanang i-long term ito.

Gano din sa aking mutual fund na Philequity 2991sh with average price of 35.80 ang price now is 40.48. If 7-10 years at least bago ibenta, bibili pa ba ako kahit mataas na ang NAVPS ?

Miss Fehl, pwede bang pakilinaw kung bibili pa ba or ano lalo na sa BDO?

    • Hi, Sabel. If your goal is long term investing, you shouldn’t care much about the price of the stock as long as you invest regularly and you choose an excellent company. BDO is a great company for long term so yeah, after 5 years or so, you’ll see income in the long run. Do not be greedy and do not be affected emotionally when the market goes down or up, stick to your goal. Cheers!

    • Hi! You could actually look at it in two ways:

1.) mabibili na yung stock at a bargain since mababa ang price
2.) you are incurring losses as compared to how much you bought the stock before

I suggest the use of trailing stops to prevent further losses-like -10% or -15% depende sa risk tolerance ng investor.
But if you look at these stocks on a bigger picture, these fluctuation in prices are irrelevant over the long run.

  36. Hi Ms. Fehl. Many thanks.

  48. Hi Ms. Fehl,

Im new to stock market. I have a bpi trading account and currently i have 100 shares on 1 of the big 5. I’m planning to buy shares very soon but i’m not sure if i should buy on the same stock which will basically add to my 100 shares or should i buy a new stock already and complete the F5 first? And let’s say i have shares on all of the F5 already, should i regularly increase (say monthly, as recommended on the post) my shares until the target price is met (then sell)?

    • Hi Melpen 🙂 Welcome to Dailypik. I know the feeling of excitement when you’re a beginner with stocks. I recommend starting with blue chip stocks because they are already established companies so you would minimize risk. BDO and ALI are excellent choices especially now 🙂 BDO is very generous in terms of dividends. ALI has recurring income making it one of my fave stocks 🙂 How much should you invest? Only you can answer that because it depends upon your financial capacity and status. Invest 20% of your income with blue chip stocks, you’re gonna reap the rewards of income in the coming years. Cheers! 🙂

    • Hi Ann 🙂 MBT is still performing excellent. I personally say YES to the stock rights offer if your strategy with MBT is long term passive investing. MBT will raise capital for strong loan growth. If you are into long term, it will benefit you more. BPI also announced stocks rights offer. I’m also giving it a go for long term strategy. However, if you’re into short term, the stock rights might cause the price of the companies to drop a bit although not significantly. Cheers!

However all forms of stocks MM UITF will do this because they are connected to the same market 4th. Quarter hysteria, which is directly influenced by the Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas.

If you are one who understand flipping, 3 to 4 days before Thanksgiving USA time is wise to sell and wait untill it just passes your sell price

All of this will go up and down because of the insider trading and tred watchers like you, and once again….good job….

Ass I said I find it best to be ready to jump back in anytime after the 19 or 22 of December, or wait until mid janauary, but watch the markets guys….it can. Spike with Christmas joy and rum then drop again…check you graphs

For those of you who are long term, in for the long term, meaning brown bager, just sit tight and ride it out….the market is always volital this time of year…never ever sell low out of fear or buy high out of manic buying

    • I bought CHP last month @ 5 per share pero nag cut loss na ko nung umabot na sa above 10% loss ko. Baguhan din lang ako stocks, umaasa rin lang ako sa payo. But, one thing na most helpful na gawin is always be aware sa standing ng company you invested your hard earned money to. CHP’s earnings dropped down drastically the past months. They changed their boardlot to 1k from 100 per boardlot. Actually, halos lahat pala ng companies involved sa cement ay downtrend ang stocks, makakabawi yan kaso parang matatagalan.

The technology is improving, solar energy and storage solution is the energy of the future and its coming fast, and the prices is spiraling down.
by of mid 2020’s there will be lots of off grid connection. Some analyst says solar energy will be so cheap that even power producer will give the electricity for free it cant compete with it,,, why? there is transmission (transco) and distribution cost (meralco).

Personally, I prefer visiting bookstores over surfing the net. Please do not look at price of the book. Consider the content. also, do not look at it as an expense. It is actually an investment – a very good investment.

          • You can look at COL’s data at Research >> Fundamentals. It gives the current price, the TP, and the BBP. You can use that as a basic guide.

Alternatively, you can get the TP from there, then set 20% lower than the TP as your BBP.

    • With Big 5, there is no BBP being followed because we use PCA method. We buy those stocks every month or every period (we prefer) as long as it’s regularly regardless of the price of the stocks. Big 5 stocks are blue chip stocks from giant companies, already established. We have chosen those 5 companies because they have strong balance sheet, great performance and high potential for long term

so if you are looking for short term, i suggest you sell once it bounces back a little. but if not, just hold it out. it’ll get better. there are only 2 telco right now. even if a third one comes, i dont think tel will go down the drain even in 10 years time.

  102. Hello!

I’m fairly new to stock investing (Started July 2015) 5/8 stocks I’ve invested in are blue chip, however I made the wrong move of buying above BBP of some of the stocks. The rest are for flipping. And now, all I see are RED! >.<

My port loss is now almost 10%. The stocks I have the largest loss percentage are mostly sa blue chips kasi nga I made the wrong move earlier. I know hindi ako dapat magpapadala sa emotions but this is my first time having this amount of loss. I'm just a little worried if my port will recover or not. I know we all have to be patient, I'm just too praning to look on the bright side hahah. All I can do now is average down.

Any wise words for a newbie like me?

    • Hi Niel,

If you are to use SAM, you cannot find BBP of big 5 stocks here. If you are a COL account holder, you may use their coling the hots report. The problem with the coling the shots report is that it does not give sell signal. Also, it is not updated daily. You have to make some decisions yourself.

      Reply
        • Investment guide will give you a BBP and a target price. Than means you can buy the stock if it is below the BBP and you can sell it when it reaches the TP which is usually the Fair Value of the stock. You can use it if you are following SAM strategy or if you are an investor type.
On the other hand, the technical guide will tell you whether a stock is currently in uptrend, downtrend or sideways. You may use it if you are trading, but you can’t just rely on this as this is also not updated in a daily basis. You have to study technical analysis if you want to trade.

If I would like to buy stock listed in Fantastic 5 and wait for the price reached it to the Target Price before selling it. Is it necessary to buy that Stocks using EIP or buy directly for that particular stocks and fund it monthly if the price still below buy below price?

    • Hi RjXhan,

Congratulations for taking courage to invest in the stock market. Using COL EIP can help because it reminds you of your scheduled investment. However, COL EIP is not required in our strategy ass long as you have the discipline to follow our strategy.

I would like to add that in our strategy, We keep on funding our portfolio even the stock we have chosen in the F5 reached its BBP. The additional cash in your portfolio can be used to buy other stocks in the F5 which are still priced below their BBP. You can also buy stocks in the B5 and hold them in the long term.

Putting money in your portfolio regularly is significant in using our strategy.

        • Hi RjXhan,

Sorry for the late reply. When using PCA, we do not consider BBP. The F5 stocks above have BBP because we use SAM here. MPI is a good company and investing in MPI using buy and hold or PCA strategy is good. But if you are going to use SAM, you better choose other stocks when MPI is trading above BBP. You may choose any F5 stocks above.

Note: I assumed you already know the difference between PCA and SAM. If you need further explanation, please let me know by replying to this comment and I’ll be happy to respond.

    • Hi Eugene,

What strategy are you using? Peso Cost Averaging (PCA)? Buy and Hold? Strategic Averaging Method (SAM)? I hope you’re using one of those strategies because we are investors here and not traders.

If you are using either PCA or SAM, you must be happy because you can buy more shares at cheaper prices. If you are using buy and hold strategy, there’s nothing to worry about because you intend to intend to hold your stocks for very long time anyway. I suggest that those who are using buy and hold strategy stop looking at your portfolio frequently.

The important thing is to stick to your plan. Keep your emotions in control to avoid mistakes in making investment decisions.

    • Hello Jet,

You can do either. No one knows which strategy will do better. It will depend on which stock on the big 5 or fantastic 5 you will buy, for how long you will hold your stocks and how the stock picks above will perform in the future. Since you have more cash after selling your stocks at the target price, my recommendation is to buy both stocks from big 5 and fantastic 5. If you buy big 5 stocks, always keep in mind that we intend to hold them for at least 10 years. On the other hand, we intend to sell fantastic 5 stocks when they hit their target price.

If you buy both F5 and B5 stocks, your portfolio will be more diversified than if you buy just F5/B5 stocks. Also, if you buy both stocks, and use both strategies, you will learn more and faster. Along the way, with your new knowledge and experience, you can modify your portfolio to perfectly fit your objectives and personal situation.

      God belss your investment journey!

Stockbroker’s commission = 0.25% of the GTA or 20 Php, whichever is higher

Yung iba kasing fees, fixed na (percentage of GTA) Kapag 8,000 Php ang GTA mo, masusulit mo ang 20 Php. Kung long-term investor ka naman, negligible na yung nakukuhang commission.

First of all, it’s Mr. not Ms. hahahaha. Anyway, If you can divide your monthly investment, please do so you can invest in both Big 5 and Fantastic 5 stocks simultaneously. This way, your learning will be much faster. You will notice the difference of their stock movements in time. However, for newbies who cannot divide their investments because they invest just a little amount, my recommendation is to invest first in the Big 5 rather than the Fantastic 5. Big 5 stocks are very solid. In my experience, in times the PSEi was down, while other stocks were down by 20% – 30%, solid companies like the Big 5 were just down 10% – 15% and they recovered much faster than others! But always remember that whether you invest in the Big 5 or Fantastic 5, patience is a very very very important virtue.

    • Hi Angel,

First, I would like to say that I totally agree that this blog is amazing. This is very informative and of big help to newbies.

Day order, means your order is good for the trading day. If your order was not done, it expires at the close of the trading day. GTC means Good Til Cancelled. If your order is not done within the trading day, it’s still good unless you cancel your order. In case your order is neither done nor cancelled, it will expire after 60 days. ATC or at the close, is an off-hour order. It is done by those who cannot order within the trading hours. Your order must match the price of the stock at the close of the trading day. That is the drawback of off-hour orders. Another off-hour order is ATO or at the open. This is similar to ATC but you are dealing at the opening price of the stock.

    • Hi Cherie,

You may or may not spend your 5,000.00 in one day. Technically speaking, that is not required. As to add monthly, semi-monthly, quarterly, etc., it is up to you. Again, there’s no requirements as to when and how much you are going to invest. It is a matter of personal choice. It depends on how much you can conveniently afford to invest. I suggest that you invest according to your objectives.

“pwede ko na ba ibenta mga nabili o na stocks if ever tumaas presyo?”
Yes you can. It depends on your objective. Traders buy stocks today and sell tomorrow or maybe after a few days when they cut their losses or want to pocket their gains.

Personally, I am a medium to long-term investor. I bought JFC, TEL, BDO, and URC stocks and I plan to hold them for more than 10 years. I also bought CEB, EW and MBT and I am just waiting for their target price to get hit and I will sell them.

Since you are new to investing, I recommend that you read the article “How to use Magic 10 Method Investing in Stocks”. The article can be found in this blog.

What to buy first?? just refer to Ms. Fehl’s Fantastic 5, and chose which Stocks you want to buy. Its up to you if you want to consume your money in 1 particular stocks BUT, WAIT! I said, WAIT!! until the price reach the TARGET PRICE before you SELL.

Keep on buying shares as long us its in its Buy Below Price. Just refer to Fastastic 5 List above.

It depends on your plan. You may sell your MBT stocks when the target price is reached and you may also hold on to your stocks. MBT is a good company for long term investing. The important thing is that you have a definite plan and you execute it accordingly.

Yes, if you buy monthly the cost will change because your purchase price will be averaged and the transaction costs will be added.

    • Dear RJ,

Before anything else, let me advice you that investing comes easy if you know how to save.

Me myself, I am following the 10/20/70 principle with my finances. To explain with, after receiving your paycheck, set aside 10% for your Tithes first, I mean FIRST. The firstfruit of our labor should be for GOD. Then set aside 20% for your savings and the remaining 70% will be for all of your expenses, bills, etc….You need to do this religiously and later you will see that your savings grow, then you can now invest and in your case in the Stock Market.

In the Stock Market, you need to have a Broker like the COL FINANCIAL where in you need to fill up the downloadable form and send the original to them. You need to have an account with BDO or BPI to do the banking transactions and once its approved, COL will give you your username and password and wallah!!! you have now access to the stock market.

      Happy investing!!

    • Hi Angel,

There are two schools of thoughts in the stock market: the fundamental and the technical. Fundamental analysis considers financial performance of the company and other economic factors to compute for the fair value of the stock. Technical analysis, on the other hand, uses charts and patterns to predict the movement of the price of a stock. I think you are referring to technical side when you ask for the trend.
Do not be confused with one to the other. Fundamental analysis is for long term investors while technical analysis is for the short term traders.

Thanks Jem. I think im referring to fundamentals. I just wondering for the undervalued stock how long it takes to reach its real market value

        • Hi Angel,

There’s no definite time frame. Sometimes it takes months, sometimes more than a year. I had a stock which I sold in just a matter of two weeks after it reached my target price. I also had a stock which did not reach my target price and besides I was forced to sell at a loss. I highly suggest that you invest only the amount of money that you will not be needing soon.

There are a lot of factors to consider. There are times that the market moves sideways, upward or downward. The Philippine economic condition plays a very vital role in the market movement.

Generally, the bigger companies move faster than the smaller ones because if foreign investors are coming in the country, the bigger companies are the first picks. But to tell EXACTLY which stock will go up and and reach its FV the soonest and how long it will take before reaching its FV is beyond us.

    • Yes you can. You can do it to any stock of your choice with few exceptions like TEL and GLO because their prices are higher. If you believe that the stock will do good, why not? The only problem I see is the investment period. 1 yr is a very short period to invest in the market. What if the market is down on August 2017? Are you going to sell at a loss? What if it takes another year before the market, or MPI in particular, to recover? Can you wait?

      Reply
    • HELLO C. 1 year is such a very short period to try peso cost averaging! Your time horizon for peso cost ave must be about 5 yrs to 10 yrs or even more!

That way you can ride the “ups and downs” of the market.. and the next “ups” which hopefully will be most highest than the previous.. That’s the wisdom of Peso Cost; to accumulate large number of stocks.. even if the market is down, it means you can buy more.. if the market is high/expensive, your market value is high and % of gain higher

      • Hi Chill. Once you hit your Target Price(TP), you may sell your stocks already and look for other stocks to invest with if you are following Ms. Fehl’s Fantastic 5 Strategy. Here, it is like flipping the stocks(selling when it hits the TP). But, if you have knowledge about technical analysis and the chart shows that your stock is still in uptrend, continue holding your shares and only sell it if the trend bends or if the price breaksdown the support level. If you like to hold your shares for 5-10 years, you may choose any stocks within the BIG 5 under stock picks. I hope it helped. Happy investing!!! =)

I’m trying to complete my Big 5 this year and then my target term is 15 to 20yrs so just wondering if what does it really mean with the “Target Term 10+ years” is it “no longer topping up” and just leave it there or is it “withdrawing” your shares after 10yrs? I’m not into Fantastic 5 strategy since I don’t have that much time to track the stock market on a daily basis.

P.S. If I stop topping up after let’s say for example 15yrs is there a dormancy fee etc just like the bank’s regulations when your account is inactive or not depositing? Also, is there a dormancy fee with mutual funds?

    okay po ba ito?

    Reply
    • Yes, you were right. If you haven’t sold your shares until the payment date, you will have a total of 60 shares. Halos wala ring effect sa equity mo, bababa ang market price pero dadami naman ang # of shares mo. Best example was when DNL offered 100% stock dividends. The market price of DNL was split in half(from approximately P20 down to P10, but the market value remains the same since the number of shares were doubled. Take a look at the example below:
      PRICE VALUE
      # of shares before stock dividends 1000 P20 P20,000
      # of shares before stock dividends 2000 P10 P20,000

***assuming the price did not change from ex-date to payment date.

If you are into long-term investment with SM, it’s a good thing since you can accumulate more shares for no extra cost. Pag tumaas ang value ni SM, bonus mo na yun. =)

  147. Hi Miss Fehl, and to all of us here

I am a beginner but I have understand the basics already. However, this certain post that’s tackling about the “8,000 RULE”. It says that 8,000 is the optimum amount to invest so as to minimize the commissions and the taxes.

Is this true? is it applicable to us long term investors? or is it only for active traders?

    Reply
    • Hi, it’s true that if you want to minimize the fees, you have to apply that rule HOWEVER, if you want more earning potential, you shouldn’t always apply that rule. After all, you are an investor, that means you already understand the risks involved and the possible outcome you will face – that is either you will win or lose. If you apply that rule, you’ll only win some but if you overcome that rule/limit, you will win big. It takes money to make more money. Nevertheless, if you know the right stocks and the right strategy for you and you’re happy, then that’s good.

      • Last question na lang po.

I already have a plan. It is the “Magic 10” technique. However, my cashflow restricts me from reaching 8,000 pesos or MORE.. Soon when my cashflow increased, I WILL allot much greater than 8,000 pesos. But right now, I am only capable of funding 5,000 pesos per month. Hence, my worries since ever since I have believed that these taxes and commissions are NEGLIGIBLE in value.

So would it be a suicide-like move (not reaching 8,000 or MORE?)

Or should I fund 10,000 every 2 months (rather than 5,000 every month) to overcome the RULE considering my present cashflow.

Thank you po Miss Fehl sa response nyo!

    • Please take note na merong trade charges/fees involved for selling and buying stocks.

      Buying:
      1. Commission = 0.25% of the gross trade amount
(NOTE: The commission fee has a minimum charge of Php 20 per transaction)
      2. VAT = 12% of the Commission
      3. PSE Transaction fee = 0.005% of the gross trade amount
      4. Securities Clearing Corporation of The Philippines Fee (SCCP) = 0.01% of the gross trade amount
      Additional Fee for Selling ONLY
      5. No. of Shares X Price X 0.005

You can easily search through web to double check. Or if you are using COL go to their FAQ section and look for “How much are trade charges?”

So okay lang po yan, relax lng and wait for it to boom. You don’t need to wait for 108 to see a positive gain. Your gain will depend on the price kung kelan mo sya binili at current market price with the consideration of the fees above.

Assuming you buy 10 shares at 88, you will see a positive gain when it hits 93/share. But take note if you bought more shares mas madali mo makukuha ung positive gain. Hope it helps.

      Thanks!

  149. I’m glad you did your research just remember to all here, trends do not lie, regardless of the reason for the trends, it is indeed a tread, or historical event which has proven 93% of the time to never change by more than 2 days, depending on the weekend, Philippine stocks doing better on a Tuesday

It should also be noted, that if enough people believe in a trend, such as believing in trend #1 or #7 whichever you wish to call it, they, we, us, them, will sell and cause the trend to continue on…I buy and sell millions of phpo worth of UITF’s based on these trends and if I don’t, it slows down my forward movement

These trends is to cover up what is called insider trading, which there is a lot of, especially in CERTAIN countries…In the USA we have many companies who make a great deal of money, buying and selling your unites, indexes, or shares, based on these trends

I would sell, at the very least, if in the Philippines, on or before, May 9th and I pick May 3rd as optimum, then let it drop and buy back in as you know called flipping

    Reply
  150. I did some research, (LOTS) and I noticed a huge drop in stocks, in the Philippines, around the time of the election..These date are,but not solely during the days of, not before April 29th no later than May 4th, Tuesday always being the same day.

How, having said that, remember, newbies are not the only people reading Miss Fehl’s blog: I reassure you, so this date could be manipulated, but not by much, since they not want to be left, “HOLDING THE BAG,”

    .HOWEVER…

Stocks love to slip, and slide, and are slow to rise back up, but they will rise, back up, so you really cannot lose, unless you sell low (PANIC) and buy high (STUPID)

I would, just for fun, sell between these dates…Watch the trends as miss Fehl said, and pick your date: Mine being the 3rd, because it is a Tuesday, which will give your data people time to wake up from the weekend and give you more honest results

You cannot losel buy selling at any given point and buying back in, at any point, preferably lower than you did sell

Check your fees and go for it, see what happens

    This is called flipping

If it does slip, and slide, as I said, it will go back up…WHY? No good reason other than one of the prearranged dates to manipulate the market such as the USA Thanksgiving weekend, same crap, and before and after Christmas

No one wants to go to jail for insider trading, so they now call it,k watching trends, and the dates, usually, are consistent

    Reply
    • Thanks for all the information you have given. I have done my research as well which states that even though the buying and selling of stocks determine its fluctuation the important dates: christmas, elections, etc influence the investors on making their move. Although not a direct cause of the movement of stocks, I think it is a great way if you are interested in predicting stocks.

I would like to ask your opinion regarding those stocks that hit their respective TPs, do we expect them to go down or there is also a possibility for the TP to be re-calculated to go much higher?

Since there are cases which it goes beyond their TP, sometimes I can’t decide if I will sell it or wait for higher TP if it is even possible.

Or is it more advisable to just move on to other stocks with higher estimated growth?

For more ‘specific’ questions, hehe, hope to get info please:

    – can I just pick 2 or 3 from the F5 then buy and hold; then sell when it reached TP?Thinking of buy and hold malaking amount kasi ip-pplace ko- knowing the risks of course. I “think” my personal style is more of buy and hold (short-term lang) than PCA

-meron bang estimated time range when the TP will be reached? Unpredictable market, yes, but ang assumption ba ng daily picks TP can be considered at least a few months or a year? Am looking if I can trade short-term within a timeline using daily picks,

-are there seminars or info you can refer if I want to learn more about buying today then selling the next day, or kahit day trading?

    THANKS SO MUCH!

No matter her answer, and I know know what it is, but you need to check this site, each and every day, once you invest and check any other websites, she suggests

Also, I suggest you check Bloomberg website and on line shows they offer…Just because Miss Fehl, tells you to do something, you need to know why she said it.

You need to learn from her, how to live without her..She might get a hot job offer somewhere and we all would be screwed if we not learn from her…Yes, we hang out, share, but we need to learn…I not mean to sound bossy, but in this bizz, you need to learn, always, do your own homework, follow the trends, and flip on your own…Miss Fehl, has a life other than here and she learn, so can we

    I have a question though.

As per “Magic 10” strategy, how does dailypik.com alert us here when the company stocks are in “SELL” mode? I mean since you monitor say monthly. Then how does dailypik alerts us? Thank you po for keeping this site FREE! haha

  160. Hi Ms Felh,

I would to ask some advice about VLL and SSI.

Last year, the board lot of VLL and SSI, both, had 100. As of the moment, the boardlot is 1000. I currently do have 400 and 3500 respectively. If I buy

How can I sell the stock that has boardlot in hundreds, like VLL (400stocks) and the 500 of SSI?

    Thank you in advance!

    • hi rhea id like to share my experience with regards to board lot, it happened to me when i bought NIKL at 5 something with 800 shares at 100 per board lot then it went down to 4 plus now it required 1000. I just waited for it to go up again and sold all my 800 shares at 5 plus. or you can try to buy another 1600 shares then sell all 2000 if you want to cut loss.

Hi Ms. Fehl, for the daily picks, (e.g. today,March 15, CEB buy below is 108 and TP is 130), meron bang estimated time range when the TP will be reached? Unpredictable market, yes, but ang assumption ba ng daily picks TP can be considered at least a few months or a year? Thanks. I just started few months ago,PCA,with some blue chip companies; am looking if I can trade short-term within a timeline using daily picks, Thanks!

    • Stocks is unpredictable. That is why naghihintay tau ng “TARGET PRICE”. If your question on “ang assumption ba ng daily picks TP can be considered at least a few months or a year”. ay answerable, then it should have been “TARGET DATE”. Kaya may target price is because we have to wait at mag abang talaga.

    • The number of shares you can buy depends on your buying power. Let’s say you have a budget of P5,000 per month, apply cost-averaging method for your selected stock monthly. That means you can have 200 shares of FGEN monthly if you have chosen FGEN in your Fantastic 5 stategy since FGEN has a board lot of 100. Though I am not suggesting that you buy FGEN, it’s just merely an example. =)

Hi miss Fehl, newbie palang po ako sa investing and paturo po sana ako ng method na ginagamit ninyo sa Fantastic 5, Correct me if I’m wrong po, upon opening an account in COL, hahatiin ko po ba yung 5k sa mga Fantastic 5 companies na ‘buy’ ang action? Then maghuhulog ako ng 2k (yun lang kc ang kaya ng salary) on a monthly basis na hahatiin ko ulit sa mga ‘buy’ Fantastic 5 companies. Tama po ba pagkakaintindi ko? Thanks

  168. take this test…

step 1 )print a candle stockchart minimum 5yrs to maximum 10yrs compose of daily-weekly-monthly with no indicators: characteristic of a chart should be..
    a) start at the peak ends with the very bottom. ex. peak is at range of 10pesos per share then goes down to a range of 1peso within a period of 5years to 10years..
    b) no indicators must be present on the chart.

step 2) create a strategy on how are you going to profit with the only chart in front of you.( imagine your profit will be the food that will be digested in your stomach)

step 3) if you think you already created a strategy. go back to step 1.
*do this as many times as you can if you have free time.
*stop when you find the simplest strategy that can be apply to those chart you’ printed.

answer this question in order to feel the benefit of this test.
    * will you pass/share your strategy to your love ones?

here comes your prize…. a reciprocal of what you had been printed will be very easy apllying your own strategy.

    GOODLUCK GUYS. 🙂

The markets have seen many depressions, one in1928 and so they say in 2008 some day 20011 a small one but after everything seem gloom and doom, what happened?

One hell of a lot of people made a lot of money

The only people who jumped out of buildings were the wealthy and that is fine by me, but yes, also normal people like all of us went hungry, but there was no need for it

I have not known Miss Fehl, long, never met her, although I ask God, for us to meet some day for coffee and lunch, but I know four things about her and maybe 5, and I will go to my grave for her, yelling this

    1. Patience
    2. Never sell low, or sell to get out of the dropping market
    3. Buy more when things drop down
    4. Sell high, flip
    5. 60/40 or worst case 70/30

I am not putting miss Fehl down, I super like and admire her, but all of you here, can do the same she has

People are stupid by choice, not by lack of education…There is a lot of rich people in the Philippines, and not all of them stole their money, they invested it wisely

    • Thank you my friend. Of course we will meet and have coffee soon 🙂 Patience, courage, and common sense are what we always need in investing

      Reply
      • I will admit my weakness here and maybe some people here can relate:

I do not have courage and common sense but at the same time…Maybe because I am male…Men seem to do things with what seems to be courage, or it could be said, carelessness, because of lack of raw courage, and replaced with foolishness

I think if women would have more self esteem, they would do better in investing than men…In the Philippines, you can see it in the work place…You get much better customer service by the girls than the guys, because women know, customer service is king

Even in the face of age discrimination, caused by men, which is not really true, but believed to be, in the face of sexual discrimination, caused by men, single motherhood, also caused by men, the Filipina runs the workforce in the Philippines, supports the family, and raises the kids the best she can

IF YOU GIRLS CAN DO THIS YOU CAN INVEST AND WIN

Investing is a marketing game and who better to buy and sell than a woman.

It has very little to do with profits loses, or business growth, although not to be forgotten…It is about people screwing other people, like a board game

Have you ever played the game, “Shoots and Ladders?” Once the dice are tossed, what did people do? They tossed your piece off the board and laughed, Same with Monopoly

With stock,s being the back bone of bonds, MF MMF UITF’s, you name it, stocks affect them all

When stocks meant long term, investing in a company, like being a Lakers Fan, my dad owned a ton of shares in a corporation he worked for, called Edison Brothers Stores INC, whose stocks fell from 38USD a share to 13USD a share then finally 3USD a share literately over night

The first large drop was when the sons and grandsons no longer wanted to be involved in retail but other lines of work, so they tanked the stock but not too much…They sold everything they had, taking it, to the 13USD and others got scared and sold causing a more ethical loss to to 3USD a share…The family caused fear and the rest took over and tanked the stocks

Now, the company could file bankruptcy and force it into receivership for the investors protection…LOL yeah, right..So do you see how they did it? Legally? Being legal does not always mean, ethical

Did the investors get 32USD a share? NOPE

Did they get the 13USD a share? NOPE

They got less than 3USD a share

That is called insider trading, and strategic bankruptcy

Is it illegal? Yes. But is it unethical? Yes…If I own millions of shares in let’s say King Kano Hospitals and my brother owns millions of shares and my mother owns many also, and we decide at a holiday, family dinner to sell on Friday, all of our stock, it is legal..We talk about buying and selling here, in this blog and it is legal

My dad was called a “Brown Bagger…”

This was during the days when you did not sell stocks, unless you retired

You were paid nice not huge but nice dividends to make you hold on to the stocks, longer…Sort of like double interest on your savings

The companies would invest back into their employees and stores…This no longer happens also

In those days, stocks would split, sort of a company form of flipping where your stock price of 40 USD a share at 100 shares, would become 20 USD a share, and you would have 200 shares of stock…Sometimes, 10 a share and get 300 shares and they would eventually go up, as the COMPANY grew

Not now, especially in American and the American stock exchange is the world exchange. What are you to do?

To experience growth in the market you need to flip and women in the Philippines can do very well with this and it is fun, but it is nerve racking and a lot of hassle…Even UITF needs to be flipped
and when to flip is obvious, based on the trends the past 10 years if the UITF is that old..Even 5

Of course, that could change since they seem to read either my page, or Miss Fehl’s LOL

What I am saying her, if you can over come sexism, even just exist in it, live in it, raise children in the face of men who not care, you can flip stocks…You women have been president, senators leaders, and just because they sucked at it, does not mean you will also

Corruption is a cowards form of earning a living, and they will face God some day or sooner…Investing is a real man’s way of investing and you girls can do it also, look at miss Fehl…If a man can do something, 90% of the time a woman can do it better…Not just do it but do it better

If you did not let men hold you back at home, in school, at work, why here? WHY?

My wife is Filipina, and she makes me look good..How? Because I learned long ago to hire good people and let them do what they do best and make me, the boss, look good

The same thing applies to wives…I told her, when we first got serious, hun, I am sick of being the boss, so you need to be the boss

She said, hun you are the man, you are the boss…I LMFAO the liar LOL I said Ruth, the Filipina has always been the boss, I studied your culture for over 15 years…The Filipina, just makes the man feel or think he is the boss, then she goes and does the job right LOL…She laughed for hours

After realizing, she had met her match, my wife is the boss…She still does not think so, but she is…I have 10 rules for the house and they are the same as hers., as any wife would want..I only step in if the kids cross her, or if someone in public gets mouthy then me and MacArthur go to work on him, and we make his sing out loud, God Bless American…LOL…No one disrespects my wife not even the kids…Not even her mother..Her mother crossed the line and now she is not allowed to see my wife or her grand-kids by order of the blotter and barangay Captain…Why? My wife may only be the Queen, but the queen runs the English empire and her princess is sergeant at arms, no joke…I may be King Kano, but I am not my wife’s king, but her pogi prince

        GIRLS!

Your value is based on wealth and God, not what men think, what I think, nobody..Invest, do it right and save the Philippines…SORRY, but the good future of the Philippines is on the shoulders of the Filipina…Don’t let us done, invest and educate your kids

Great article as usual. I’m new to all of this and will open an account with COL.

Could you please advise a good strategy in buying these magic 10 stocks? For example if I have 30K, should I buy 6K PHP worth of shares from each of the Big 5 or Fantastic 5, or should I buy more of ALI and BDO because they have a bigger return potential, so on.

I suppose you can’t really disclose the best/ your actual strategy here since that would make everyone rich hehe but can you please at least give an idea of a good buying strategy for a newbie investor like me? e.g. how many shares of which stocks, etc.

To fully take advantage of the declining market, what should I do:

      – open a MF/UITF focused on equities and let the fund managers play with my hard-earned money, or –

      – buy from the Magic 10 stocks myself and just figure out later the best way/time to sell them?

My investment horizon is 3-5 years or even longer, I’m not in a hurry. Though Im not sure if I want to be an active or passive investor.

What I’m sure of is that I want to start buying stocks right now while the prices are lower than ever. Also this seems to be a great time to start investing in stocks as well.

If you can take risks with equities, I’d say have an Equity Fund then some of the stocks to flip here or some of the B5 for PCA. This way, you’re passive and closely active 🙂

try to analyze this… by using 52week high as example….(DOUBLE UP)
    1) 20%decrease on 52week high you start buying. 10 shares
    2) 25% decrease on 52week high you start buying 20shares
    3) 30% decrease on 52week high you start buying 40shares
    4) 35% decrease on 52week high you start buying 80shares
    6) and so on.
    .
*when it rebounds( single moment) at around 5% to7% sell all your shares
*institution uses approx 14% (magic factor) on determining their BBP and TP, overvalue and undervalue so on and so forth, while here we use 20% as factor.
*reference point can be year on year, start of company’s fiscal year and others.

I DON’T REALLY KNOW WHAT KIND OF STRATEGY IS THIS BUT DEFINITELY NOT PCA. IT KEEPS WINNING.

  176. I understand, we all do, but it keeps going down, because now, the little guy, like you and me, sold, or is still selling, called panic selling…The people who sold first, were the greedy, however smart, investors, who not just sold millions of USDs worth of stocks, but MILLIONS OF SHARES…Some investors, have Billions of php invested in your stocks…Billion, with a B

They do this, to flip, and they have no choice…This is like if I posted, here, I will be selling my shares of FORD Motor company, tomorrow, at the opening bell….Well, you own millions of shares, what are you going to do? So, everyone here, owns, Ford stock, they all have to sell, NO CHOICE, but it is a good choice

What we do is, we sold are stocks, at 123 Php a share, at the same time, BUTTTTTTTTTTTT, that is not the new price, because WE ALL SOLD AT THE SAME TIME, SO WE ALL GOT OVER PRICED, PRICES, MEANING If I sold millions, it should go down some, then you sell, it goes down some, then bong bong and jojo and sri sri and ukay ukay, they all sell, but it should go down more and more

BUT NOOOOOOO WE ALL SOLD OVER THE INTENRET, SO WE ALL GOT THE LOCKED IN PRICE OF 123 Php…Follow? Now, the stock drops way tooooooo much, because it was sold way toooooooooo high to all of use, now you, me, Miss Fehl Bong bong, jo jo, ukay ukay sori sori and even pala pala LOL all got a good price, for worthless stock

    Who suffers?

    BILLY BROWN BAGGER

Now, the stock is worth 82 php a share and it keeps going down, because Ruth sells, Nancy gets scared and sells, Frank sells, and on and on and on.

HOW DO I KNOW IT WILL GO UP?

Because, I know that all of those investors, will buy back the stock, over time, at different times, so they can sell it, at different times, AT THE DEPRESSED OR DEPRESSION PRICE OF 63,.84 PHP GOT IT?

Will it go ups, from there? Of course, it is now over valued

But it is more high-tech than that, because that is borderline insider trading…It is not, but it is close….They also use, computer software, which follows the trends, so your computer, or your investment trader, like E-trade, will sell your stock, at a certain time, (Miss Fehl calls it what? Target price right?) because the trend….EXAMPLE The trend is, on January, 31st, million of people SEEM TO SELL a lot of shares

You have to sell and if you don’t you are left holding the bag, as we all are now…Called Brown Baggers, which is a poor investors who needs to take a brown bag lunch to work each day, meaning, we still have to work a real job, we do not live on investment trading alone…FOLLOW

This is why I tell you guys, “Watch the trends,” It is all you have, unless you can afford the costly software?

I was forced to sell, 500K of UTIF’s from BDO and lost 35K due to the market…I had 220K left over, so what do you think I did?

It was BDO Balanced Fund, and in the 4 days it took to get my money into my wife’s account, it went down more and more, so what did I do? I bought back, essentially, my own losses, but it was less than the first price, and less than I sold it for, and yes, it went down more, but I bought low, after selling a little high…I will make back the 35K buy flipping making money from people who sold..Please do not be on of those people

***The big-boy’s in the market make money from you, not company profit shares..Those days are over…It is called flipping, trading, not ownership

***Frankly, and honestly, if it is as low as you say, you should buy more, not sell, even one share, or whatever your brokers minimum is, buy more

***If you sell now, you will give your money to someone else

And remember…Only invest what you are willing to lose

Miss Fehl? How did I do?

    • Excellent as always 🙂 The key here is do not panic, buy more of your favorite MF or UITF because they are composed of lots of stocks then buy some from your favorite blue chips, go to beach and celebrate.

  177. hi there.. is everyone ok? do you now feel fear or greed? buy or sell? short term or long term? these three question will give different answer to every individual. you will then realize stocks are not subjective.
REQUALIFY and re-EVALUATE your strategy. you may win or lose in the coming days, weeks, months, years and so on. good luck.. 🙂
wisdom-logic-common sense-brain is the only thing we need in stock market… 🙂

  178. ADVICE ONLY ….when we caught by a downtrend after we bought stock and CONFUSE if you will sell or hold… here is a simple strategy but requires a brave heart that you can do aside from peso cost averaging while you are waiting for stock to go up (rebound) again.
wait until the desired percentage of the stock price has gone down.. for example every 5percent 10percent 20 percent and so on… double up (buying) the shares on every percentage it went down. advance option of this strategy is not buying the first 20percent it went down.
…. as soon as the price of the stock rebound you will then notice its easy to recover from your lost.. 🙂

  179. @SHEN I want to scream

Please forgive me, but Miss Fehl works hard at work and here, and you did not read her page…Please read this, again

Buy – means buy the stock because the stock is currently cheaper than its fair value

Stop buying – obviously means pause or stop buying for a while and buy other stocks from the list instead

Hold – means hold your shares of stocks for a while and wait for the sell signal

Sell – means we reached our Target already and it’s unacceptable to buy some more because of the market valuation. Sell your stocks and reap your profit.

You do not lose money, when stocks go down…Only when you sell…The whole world went down, because of algorithms, high tech trading, insider trading, world events, short traders, flipping, and just plan old brains

If you sell low, you are leaving behind profits for those, who do not…I had to sell, to pay for legal fees, and I hated it, I lost 35K but as soon as I sold, I bought back, my own units in the BDO UITF fund market, below what I sold it for, so soon, will get my 35K back, but this might not happen to you

My UITF’s, are groups of stocks bonds, securities, bla bla bla,

You need to hold it, not matter how scary it maybe, until you make a clear, clean net profit of at the very least 2%, meaning after all broker fees, plus 2 to 3%, for the new passbook interest

Then, you need to not invest anymore, but this question is unnerving for me

You sound like you invested, to only be happy, all of the time?

You invested to get rich, fast?

Do you know, how hard Miss Fehl worked to earn what she earned and invested?

She is not rich, she is just playing the game

    No, cut what loss?

Thanks all for your replies. newbie here. I invested for long term. And I’m guessing just like all other newbies, I can’t take my eyes off my portfolio. Since I won’t touch my blue chips stocks I decided to try flipping. Checkout SSI since it was under undervalued stocks and is one of the highest percentage for estimated growth. Then for a few days i noticed it it was still going down, I should be happy right? Then for the first time I checked it’s graph and notice that it really is just going down. I guess I just got scared that it won’t no longer go back up. Anyway, thanks for the advice guys 🙂

      Reply
  180. I think I just made a wrong choice. I bought SSI and it is going down 🙁
Should I sell to cut losses? Or hold on to it?

  181. FOOD FOR FINANCIAL THOUGHT:

    1) learn and master the habit of saving money -capital-
    2) your savings must have passive income. -it takes money to earn money-
3)choose and decide what type of investment fits to your strategy -only you will know-
    4) TIME and COMPOUNDING INTEREST should always on your side. -no risk-
    5) diversify your portfolio -hedging-.

    SO BE IT.. 🙂

  182. Hi Ms. Fehl, i just started last December just want to ask your opinion on my plan.

i have stocks on both BPI and MEG

Average price of my BPI stocks = 82.6951
Average price of my MEG stocks = 3.9263

Current price of BPI = 84.55
Current price of MEG = 3.72

do you think it is a good move to sell my BPI Stocks then buy MEG stocks with it? or should i just keep it as is and just wait for my next scheduled deposit to buy new stocks?

    Thanks,

  183. This is easy for me to say, hard to do, but here is another rule, the wise investors will tell you and they eat money for breakfast.

You have heard me say, 60/40 rule here is the, “My future fell through the floor…” RULE

“The lower it goes, the less time it will spend down there….”

If you like that, sorry, I did not say it first, I am only repeating it, but it seems to be true…Even gold and crude oil went up a few pennys, this week…If the stocks you and miss Fehl, are talking about, when up after going down, and I mean down, it could go down again, but it will go up, no matter what

2016, has a lot to over come: 2 major presidential elections, USA and here in PHI, crude oil is super low and will go down more…My guess, is we will have a war, because of the reserves, so buy rubber gloves and airsick bags, maybe some Rolaids because the ups and downs are not over, before the real correction, begins, and when it does, it is inch by inch

Now is the time to buy, and remember 60/40 so you can buy more, if it goes down, so keep 40% cash reserve

DON’T SELL AND DON’T FLIP UNLESS YOU ASK MISS FEHL

  184. Every culture, in what I call, the mass, or masses, act or behave different, but in the same manor, all cultures, also have people, who are very similar, as all of us here are..If we were not like minded, those who were not like minded, would leave the blog…This is why I need to be careful how I talk here, so I do not scaring off the super newbies, with my go go go get-em guys, it could scare them off, then Miss Fehl, will wonder, where did everyone go?

All of us here, are different, DUH! but, we are like minded

Just as the world needs cultural tolerance, I find it more fun to call it, cultural enjoyment, so I enjoy the Filipino culture, saving me a lot of headaches, trying to tolerate it…If I was to tell people, as if I am some smiling liberal, “Oh, I am tolerant, and I can tolerate the pinoy culture…”HUH? How would that make you feel, that I need to tolerate your culture? I know, the smarter ones here are saying, well we too need to tolerate our own countrymen…Well, that is as you said, own countrymen not me the kano from USA…Big difference…We need to be careful of what we say

True, for the most part, I never had a problem, tolerating other cultures, because in American, we had different cultures, within the same race, meaning Caucasians, from county to county, block, to block, city to city, state to state, so there were different accents, food, entertainment, and now, we have people from all over the world, which is happening here, in the Philippines, also and if done slowly, the word THIS meaning diversification can benefit a country.

However, in the past few years, it happened too fast in America, as it did in the Philippines, but the American standard of living went down, your standard of living went up, as people with income, not rich but income, relocated to your country and from overseas workers…Until about 2009, the Philippines had no money of their own…The cash was from outside the country, mostly in dollars

In America, our money and income dropped..This is why you see so many Canadians, Americans, Aussies, moving to the Philippines…The exchange rate, in 2006 was 52 to 56 to one, now, it is UP to 45, from 42, and I laugh…What does this to do with you?

You are now, part of the rest of the world…Good or bad, you are now in the big leagues…Many financial annalist call the Philippines, the sleeping lion who woke up and that is true…The Philippines, has huge amounts of money, more than the USA., unfortunately, to USA banks…We still have money from Marcos group

WHY did I say all of this?

Read what miss Fehl, posted, then read this again

You need to know this, first of all, to look, listen, watch, and believe, you are now in the big leagues, and need to be serious, as I proudly say this for both me for Miss Fehl..I am sure Miss Fehl, is smiling, as she reads this, because she has seen, in the past year or so, a big swing in mentality here…She reads this blog, this is her baby, she gave birth to the blog, and we are her children, and she is one proud mother

The stock market is no different than the traffic in and out of Edsa, and through Fairfield…The traffic is caused by people who should not own cars, believing they can get to and from somewhere, faster, than a bus, which is not true, and as you see, they are rude and caused longer travel times not less

Also, bus manufactures did not put CR’s on the bus, prices rose too high too fast, so ridership dropped, and more took the jeepney, and soon, jeepney prices will be to high and you will see more trikes, then more peddle bikes, so things will get worse, as there will be more buses, more trikes, more jeepneys, and more peddle bikes

What I am saying here is, rich people, have a propensity of making things worse, not better, especially in a new economic arena, or environment, call it what you wish.

Same as with any market, even SM or Robinson’s or Waltermart, the people who go there mess it up..There is no reason why you need to stand in line for so long, but BDO ATM cards, never work, which should speed things up, merchants, are given Prestige cards, messing up that line, seniors think they need their own line, so they get mad, when the cashier is being a good employees, and takes a non senior, when she has no one to help who is a senior

Less cash is better, ATM Debit cards, is a one way transaction, no change required, but the BDO/ globe line, will not accept their own debit cards, even at the ATM…Again, the rich…And SM market is BDO, the Globe, connection is BDO, it is all BDO, or SM holdings, yet it does not work…At one time it worked well, no longer…Hold on, I am almost there

With the world joining the markets of Bonds, stocks, MF MMF securities, UITF’s, savings, things will get worse, slower, and more volatility, so you need to think outside of the box, meaning, I am required to tell you, 60/40 in any financial matter, or at the worst, 30/70, but only you can decide to listen to me, or do was you wish.

I did not follow the 60/40 rule…I told myself, heck, in 30 days I can get to it, then I had medical issues, legal problems and legal documents to obtain in the usa, for my future life in the Philippines, such as a new passport, 5 birth certificates, citified copies of marriage licenses and divorces, for my affidavit in-Lew of singleness

You need to follow the rule, more, not less now, more than ever…Just like the morons driving to and from Edsa, they should be more patients, they are not, less rude, they are not, and drive slower, not faster, but they make it worse and complain you need to

Follow for now, the 60/40 % rule, always have a cash reserve, just as a good corporations do They always have a cash reserve, and always invest low sell high, the best you can

You do not buy stocks in BDO, because you like BDO, you buy stocks in BDO, because of the statistics that Miss Fehl, gives you, or guides you to do, not because you like the bank, or the mall, or the investments..This is not the lottery, where you use your mothers birth date, as the numbers you choose, even if you win

With the Chinese market, being included in the world markets, people are saying, the Chinese market is not a real market…The Chinese market, is guided buy, people buying and selling, volume of trades, sell off, paper tantrums, and insider trading and China, investments, has a high level of corruption…But how can people say this, if the USA market, is no different?

    CULTURAL DIFFERENCES BUT SIMILARITIES

The USA market, is only 20% business income or loss driven, and the other 80% is caused by human beings, buying and selling, volume of trades, sell off, paper tantrums, and insider trading, which is corruption, so why do we put other people’s markets down?

To cover up the truth about the USA and Euro markets, which are no different…We all have the same problems, including traffic..The USA has the best freeways in the world, but everyone complains about traffic

#1…Do your darn homework, read the trends and graphs

#2. Follow the 60/40 rule for the first 10 years, ok 5 but better if ten

#3. Always have a cash reserve…If billion dollar companies have a cash reserve, why don’t you?

#4. Begin with UITF’s, so you can learn how to follow rules, and to flip, holding periods, and minimum buy ins, such as 100K, or 10K

#5. Practice and master the buy low, sell high and flipping, then move on to stocks

#6.Read this blog and others, every day, over and over, Google other investment informational pages

You do not need to be culturally tolerant, but you do need to learn how to enjoy the culture of the investment market

    Cheers !!!

    ARMAGEDDON OR MARKET INSIDERS?

I have said this again…A CRASHED MARKET MEANS ONLY TWO THINGS

********First off, I know this is hard, and please, forgive my arrogance and silly parables, but I am trying to relax people get those with the balut for this sort of life, to INVEST AND FOLLOW MISS FEHL’S ADVICE, because it is good for all of us on this blog and countrywide

Next is, as I stated many times here, RED means future green and there are two reason for a market crash…RED

#1 Reason, which is near, is basically Armageddon, and if it is Armageddon, money will have no value, so you will lose it all, but if money have no value, who cares? .Read book of Revelations…So move on from the red

#2. It is just part of the game and we know, games have winners and losers and most of us here, will never be one of the big winners because we are honest…The Red, is caused by stupidity or great wisdom by a few people, who tanked the market.

In August 24th 2015, October, November, just before USA Thanksgiving holiday, happens every year, and December, right before holiday, and now, January and it will continue, because of the forced splitting of stock, which seldom happens now, because of flipping, and through insider trading, manipulation, and China…China, over heated, and is trying to find its place in line, at the cafeteria…SORRY

This is why the market place is over regulated and yes new laws are on the way now, and it is because of greed, but you need to have a little greed

    SELL NOW NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    BUY NOW NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    WAIT…..

Give this another week, watch the news like ON THE MONEY ONANC, WITH ERIC MENDOZA, AND LISTEN TO CLASSICAL RADIO, THE MASTERS TOUCH 105. something 3 I think

If the news shows some stability, it begins to calm down, buy and if it goes down, so what? You only lose money if you sell

If it goes down, it means you bought at the right time. (FIGURE OF SPEECH, BECAUSE IF IT GOES UP FAST AND CRAZY, IT WILL GO DOWN IT IS FAKE)

You want this to go down and get this none sense over and done with..You will need to buy LOW and flip high

If Miss Fehl, allow, I will put this information on my Google plus page, have miss Fehl, check it, and give you my link…Sort of a helpers sheet, so you can find it faster because everyone is asking the same thing here

FOLLOW HE ADVICE, PLEASE DON’T SELL

    • You can search the FAQ on your broker’s platform about fees and computations. This is for COL clients https://www.colfinancial.com/ape/Final2/home/faq.asp#how_much_are_the_trade_charges
(Philstocks have updated their fees since November and is now the same as COL’s)
Basically, when you purchase stocks, a loss of around 1.09% of gross amount will be shown in your portfolio that would be comprised of both the buying and selling fees. What you’ll see in your portfolio is the “NET market value” which is what you will receive if ever you decide to sell your position.

To make sure I understand this post…The commenters bought 10 shares, market value of 103.35 and the added fees total Php 23.00 so when trying to figure out gains, I or we, or us need to consider the actual cost of the stock as Php 105.65? So, if it rises in value, to 105.35, from 103.35 a gain of 2Php, I have yet to make an actual profit, plus I am looking at fees again, when I sell the 🙁 ? That would freak me out, that I would start off, on the very first day, at a loss, even before the market goes up, or down. I would like to invest in some stocks with Miss Fehl’s help, around 250K but I am not so sure…I can handle the UITF market, but not too sure on stock…Miss Fehl, can you give me some positive insights, when you find time, because I know your site is growing fast

    • Brokers’ commission plus PSE fees,VAT, etc are added on top of your sales. The breakdown of fees are shown whenever you buy stocks (PREVIEW ORDER) or when it has been executed (CONFIRMATION). Assuming you bought 10 shares of BDO @ Php 103.35 plus around Php23.00 of all the fees, the average price you bought that 10 shares which will later on reflect in your portfolio will be Php 105.65.

      Hope it helps. Cheers

  199. FUTURES/CRUDE OIL: First off, I have never bought futures, but I do watch the market…Think of all of us at a BBQ, just talking…And, none of this is of the opinion of Miss Fehl, or her magazine, unless she happens to agree….This is all me, King Kano and I am responsible for the information here…From what I understand, from “The crude oil trends,” (There is that word again, “TREND.”) When oil does go down, down this far, and supplies are up, and the amount of supply, does not warrant the absolute lower price, meaning sure there is a good supply, but there always has been, and production was way up, but supplies, are not high enough to warrant such a low price, well, so what? This can only mean 2 things. That I know of. #1. The US Federal Government, will be storing more oil, soon…(I think they will build more storage facilities) causing lower prices, and will sell that oil, it bought at a lower price, selling it at a higher price…There is that term, again…BUY LOW SELL HIGH. (The price of oil is low for a reason, it is not an accident) Just for fun, watch the news, US news, or internet articles, read them and decide for yourself; “If now is the time to buy oil, futures and if it does go down more, how soon will it go up, and WHY? The key words here are…It is not, if oil goes up, but when, and how much…I am not telling you anything new, because, Akin Oyedele, of Business Insider, heard and saw what I heard and saw, and that is words mixed with trends and human actions…Read what Akin said in his article

Mr. Akin Oyedele…“Earlier on Tuesday, Bloomberg reported that as part of the budget deal reached between Congressional leaders and the White House last night, the US plans to sell millions of barrels of crude in its Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) between 2018 and 2025….” (This is often done, in times of peace, but I not see peace in the near future…My words not his)

Mr. Akin Oyedele again. The sale would total 8% of the 695 million barrels, and it’s the second time the government has raised cash from the reserves according to the report. The SPR is an emergency stockpile held by the Department of Energy…..”
    Thank you, Akin Oyedele
    http://www.businessinsider.com/crude-oil-price-october-27-2015-10

Which means, higher prices…Which means, if you did buy crude oil futures now, whether it goes down more, or not, it will go up…Again, if oil does not go up, it is Armageddon, seriously, and who needs oil? But now there is no Armageddon, so oil will go up…(And the big boys are waiting for it to go up to make a killing) Remember, Gold is out, oil is in, meaning, we are yes, off the gold standard, but we are on the oil standard

#2. WAR. War seems to follow oil gluts, not just balancing the Federal budget…The US, and I am sure, the world, have many unemployed people, under the age of 30, who no longer qualify for unemployment benefits, because their benefits ran out, which means, they are no longer counted, as unemployed, in the US unemployment statistics…I know, stupid.

In closing, along with the budget deal reached today, October 27th 2015, your yesterday, this date, and oil being planned to be stored and sold, at higher prices, the US Navy, did a drive by in the North China Sea, which of course, super upset the Chinese…Bad luck? Accident? It is a trend? No, it is people, human beings..Now me, I not like futures for this very reason…Too many hands in the cookie jar, and I do not like making money, from war…I am lazy, and I prefer to buy a portfolio than to make one, myself, and I love UITF..Or is it UTIF? Or is it IUTF? In any case, investing is like a religion, everyone has their own definition of their religion, same with investing, so this is my opinion, only…Enjoy your proxy crude oil investing, or, hold on tight, if you do invest in crude, it should be a wild ride…Air sick bags, anyone?

    • Just my opinion, don’t limit your investments to ALI and BDO. You can buy other stocks in our BIG 5. If you are uncertain which of the BiG5 stocks you want to buy today or on the succeeding months, you can check the Investment Guide in COL(Research Tab) for the Buy below and Fair value of our BIG 5 stocks, that way you can avoid buying on high priced valuations.
Example, if I am planning to buy any of the Big5 stocks today(10/30/2015) and I have 5k to spend, I will choose to buy BDO and ALI since their prices are still within the Buy below price. Happy Investing!

As of 10/22/15 COL investment Guide:
      BDO Buy below – 102, Current price 10/29/15 – 101.9
ALI Buy below – 37, Current Price 35.7
URC Buy below – 174, Current price 199
JFC Buy below – 161, Current price 207
SM Buy below- 706, Current price 871.5

Since noone can predict the market what I usually do is, before buying the stocks I want, I need to check the # of trades, board lot, including other expenses such as commision of my broker, vat etc. If the gain is great and it covers well the expensE’s, I just flipped it. It is lile gambling but it is fun. This is the reason I check my stocks everyday. Heheh

As for your inquiry, check PXP and its history, stock price in 3 or 5 years. I bought PXP because of the its price. Today, the price is below 2 pesos. While it was 32 pesos per share on Feb 13, 2013. WHo would not like that, right?

    • Hi Sir Danny.
Stock prices differ from each other. May minimum number of stocks (board lot) din na pwedeng bilin. For example, as of now, prices of these companies are:

      CEB = P85.10 per share x 10 (board lot) = P851
      SM = P880.00 x 10 = P8,800
      FGEN = P23.5 x 100 = P2,350
      URC = P192.6 X 10 = 1,926
      BDO = P104.8 X 10 = P1,048

You will need P14,975 in order to invest on these companies. Or pili ka lang kung saan aabot ang 5k mo.
You may want to vistit the website of COL financial. Meron din silang free seminars. Happy investing!

    • @Gelo: With all due respect, RELAX…The damage is done…Miss Fehl, suggested, they will go up, and they will, but eventually…I noticed in 2015, the highs were fast to go up but even faster to drop down, and the valleys were lower than usual, and if that does not make you scream, some went sideways on the way back up…I am sorry for your fears, but selling is never an option on the way down, or down, only at the top…I am not too sure of stocks, but with my UITF’s, I know there will be highs and I know approximately when, so I will sell them once high and when they drop, same times as last year, I will buy them back…You need to watch the trends

Would you please share pieces of advice on how to deal with stock bought with high price and went down so fast in just a day. I bought iripple yesterday, hoping it would gain only 3 pesos at the end of the day. Unluckily, iripple went down with a difference of 13 pesos.

I am considering 2 things to deal with the great lost.
1.) Buy lower price of iripple with triple the volume of the first I bought
2.) Wait for years, until it gains.

      1. Is the stock fair to buy, is it cheap or undervalued? If yes, that’s a good point.
      2. Is it a great brand? What companies it is connected to?
      3. Is it suited to your strategy and goal as an investor?
      4. Why are buying it really?
      5. Do you have any single doubt? If yes, don’t buy it.

  213. Hi Fehl, your site is a great advocacy and i have learned so much. My only regret is that i didn’t invest earlier or became financial literate as i’m now heading into my 40’s and income is only through paycheck. I’ve already opened a COL acct and investing in both bluechip stocks and mutual funds this week. Great time to buy while there’s a slight dip on the market but it is picking up fast.

Hope you can answer my questions:
    1. When the action is stop buying, do I stop even if i follow peso cost averaging strategy?
    2. What are the chances of buying a stock below market price? I’m testing if somebody will sell on the previous day rates but may be wasting my time doing so and just go with the current value.
    3. I have around 4 stocks for long term, and 2 for midshort term or for flipping.. Di ba ako lugi sa commission fees everytime i buy additional shares per month. 120+ din yun bawas but the returns should make up for it on the long term.

Thank you and i’m a fan now!

    Reply
    • Hi, Ric. Better late than never.
      1. It depends, if you are for long term like 3 years or so, buy regularly even if the bluechip you’ve chosen is under “stop buying”. If you are flipping, then stop buying when it says so
      2. Use GTC (good til canceled) order if you want to have that chance. GTC orders are valid for 7 days. It your order didn’t execute within that period, it will expire on the 7th day. You can also cancel GTC order if you have decided that
      3. Commission fees are just little fees compared to the profit, dividends and the opportunity you’ll have in stock trading. It takes money to make money 🙂

Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you here always.

    • If you only have 5K monthly budget that won’t be increased too soon and you want a diversified investment, opt for Equity Funds instead of stocks. Equity Funds are diversified equities already, meaning mixed stocks. Read our guides about MF to learn more.

      • Supper agree, with Miss Fehl, if she is talking about UITF’s because once you pay the buy-in of around 10K, usually and I say, usually, the continued buy in, is only 1K, which is doable for all of us here, but if I may suggest…Before you read miss Fehls section on MF’s, read the section on the difference between MMF and UITF’s, first, and read it maybe 2 or 3 times, slowly, then the section on MF…I prefer true Equities in the UITF world, if you have the heart to either leave it all there, during the ups and downs, or to play with it, jumping in and out, during the high’s and low’s which is tricky, and wait a few months before doing that, but you will need to learn how do this….no matter what… even if you buy Bonds, Stocks, UITF”S, or Money Market Funds

    • Yes, if you’re investing you should take the opportunity to buy more when the market is down but if you’re trading and you need the money in a short period of time, you need to study more the market and the economy to know your next actions because the prices of the stocks might not move up so quickly

    • It’s always up to you but for me, I think I can only go for a max of 10 stocks because the more you add, the more you need to monitor, analyze, and stuff. At least if I have only 10, I’m only focused on that. It’s easier that way (for me).

  247. Hi Ms. Fhel,

I just started with stocks last April 2015 with very limited knowledge on how to go about it. I have been reading your posts and trying to follow the Magic 10 method. I understand that the strategy is for long term. But since I opened the account in COL and up to now, all the stocks I have been purchasing (ALI, BDO, etc.) are always in the red when I view my portfolio. All have posted losses. On average, I incurred around 6% loss as of this time.

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

I got to read your article about making 25K in 4 months. But at the rate things are going in my portfolio, I doubt if gaining anything in 4 months is possible.

    Thank you and God Bless!

    • Jose,

I started investing only in late May this year and more than half of my portfolio are all green. I don’t strictly follow the Peso Cost Averaging. I’m following some of this site’s Fantastic 5 and Magic 5 but i ONLY buy those if they are on or under “buy below” recommendation of Col Financial. If your following the Peso cost averaging then you should invest your money for a longer time like 5-10 years and buy stocks continuously to get more shares and sell it when the prices of the stocks increase.

      Reply
    • That is very normal because the market has been down and slowly moving up the past few months. It would take some time to see gains again. Be patient. No worries our stocks are all premium stocks. We need less worry but more TIME 🙂 Cheers!

  248. Hi Miss Fehl,

I’m following your magic ten stock, 2 B5 and 1 F5, i don’t want to stress myself out in trading so i go for long term, my target is 5 years. The recent article from COL, remove URC from their top list, according to them the competition in visayas and mindanao might hurt URC and lower possibilities of achieving their target income. I’m just curious if you do not consider these factors in choosing your B5? The article got me “a little bit worried” since URC is part of my port.

    Thank you very much.

    Reply
    • Hi, I knew some questions like this would come here. URC is still in the Big 5 and we are firm about putting it there because it deserves the spot. If you read about our post as to why we should invest with URC, you’d know why it has big potentials. The stock market is a roller coaster ride, companies like URC may or may not meet their target profits but hey there are still there and they make billions. Investing with the big 5 means you believe in those companies. COL was just removed URC for a while among their COLing the shots, doesn’t mean it’s forever. The COLing the shots stock picks are for flipping. 🙂

Just wAnt to ask you pano nadetermine ung target price? I came upon a formula as explained by Kevin Matras using P/E Ratio and tried it on MBT using ung stats on Bloomberg. The formula is Price x ((current p/e)/(estimated p/e)) = target price … According to bloomberg stats using the formula 92.45 x (13.6536/15.1384) = 83.3823 (target price) pero ung target according to fantistic 10 MBT target price is 107. Pacheck naman po.. Ty

    • TP is the estimated FV of a stock today and there is never an accurate valuation about it. There are factors to consider such as quantitative and relative factors that is why even experts on the Wall Street have different ways and they always say it’s only ESTIMATES. It’s either you follow or you use your own formula. We use COL’s FV with MBT (109 as of now).

  250. Hi Miss Fehl,

I got this from COL’s post, what’s your take on this? Dapat naba namin ibenta ang URC? please advice us.

“..Given the challenges facing URC in the short term and its elevated valuations, it would be difficult
for the stock to outperform the market in the next few months. Consequently, we are removing URC
from our COLing the Shots stock picks until prospects improve. We recommend investors who were
able to buy URC when it corrected to our “buy below price” of Php184/sh to sell their holdings and
    lock in gains. ”

    Thank you. 🙂

    • URC is among our stocks with Long Term goal here so we buy more when its price is lower or when it’s not performing well in the market. If your strategy is flipping, you can sell. At the end of the day, it’s up to you 🙂

I am newbie in investing stocks and would like to know also how to compute the AVERAGE PRICE for an additional shares every time you will buy.

    Example:
    1. Bought stock @20 x 100 shares — ave. price 20.22 but then you want to buy AGAIN because market is low @ 15 x 200 shares —- what would be the Average Price now if i have a total of 300 shares?

    2. which is better options; for better ave. price?
a: buy additional 200 shares one time (so charges will be less)
b: buy additional 100 shares twice

    3. Since my current ave. price is 20.22 and i would love to go down to 16 which i do not know how many shares should i buy.

Would you know how to get this? Thank you.

    • Hi. We don’t post BBP and TP for the big 5 stocks since we buy them every month anyway following PCA and the Target depends upon the investor, it can be 5 years or so. We put 10 years to have a long term goal

      Reply
      • The problem of PCA for long term investing is you’ll loose the chance of better returns. WHy do I think like this. because if you invest in those big companies (blue chips) that are expected to have higher prices in the future, and you do PCA, you will buy less shares when the stock price is already at the highest peak. Better study the valuation of the company and put all your designated investable fund in one down.

And I incur losses na agad as of now pero okay lang yun since long term investment naman target ko. My question does the number of shares being bought still acummulated? Or nandun lang? halimbawa bumaba ang price hanggang P40 anjan pa rin ba yung total shares na binili mo? tapos pag tumaas na ulit sya example 200 ( assuming after 10yrs) yung total no of share na nabili ko is multiply ko lang dun sa 200 yun na ulit yung equity fund ko?. tama ba amg understanding ko? But you could include it among the speculative stocks you pick. 100 City Malls in 5 years has potential depending on the location of malls. It’s better if DD avoid locations of bigger players like SM, Rob and Ayala Malls. Where are they gonna build these malls? Sia and Caktiong were successful with Mang Inasal before maybe they would again with Citymalls. Let us see.

i recently came across your blog and i’m so happy that i found this! i became a member of col financial in 2013 and traded stocks for a few months. when i got pregnant, i got busy and forgot all about it. my last trading was in nov 2013 and i forgot all about it..until now. i checked my account again after 1year and 5months and i’m happy to share that i gained 45%! i still have DNL industries which i bought for P4 and it’s now P20. i’m not sure if this is for a long-term investment so you think i should sell this already and buy one of the big 5 stocks? thanks again for this blog and more power to you!

    • Hi. Congrats with your stocks. They’ve grown up pretty well while you’re busy 🙂 Yes, you can sell them now that you gained 45% and use the money buying one of the B5 stocks monthly and another 1 from the F5 which you can flip in case you’re not busy this time. More power to you too and send my hugs to your new baby 🙂

  284. Hi Fehl,

Glad to have accessed this very informative blog of yours. I have been interested with stock investments lately as most of my colleague from my current company are into it and been hearing good news from them. I have just starting going thru some pages of our blog and comments and though I have, I think, learned few about stocks, there are still things in mind still unanswered. Perhaps, you can recommend or tell me a company that provides trainings or seminars for beginners like me. I don’t have much money to invest but I can probably start at 10K but sure, it maybe small, however I would like to have enough knowledge in this field that I would like to take. Your article here is very useful but can I have a face to face interaction with experts who can explain to me literally the know-hows of this field ? Had a glanced of the COL website and found that they do have seminars both for beginners and COL clients, some I guess has a fee but do u think, for beginners like me, it is worth a risk? Main reason why I’m looking for seminars is for me to ask question especially in our Filipino language if I need to do so just for me to understand not everything but at least the basic and important aspects of stock investment.. Hoping for your response..

    Reply
    • I had some of the seminars provided by COL Financial and they are very good. It’s a must to know the basics then get real hands on of investing by opening your online trade account. Only you can know and learn about stocks investing if you’ll be able to experience it in your own hands and own application. While you’re doing that, never stop learning by seeing updates about the market. We have stuff you can also use in Dailypik and we have basic guides at Philpad.

    Here is my question.

I have a savings of around 2M pesos. Have a regular monthly income (means the 2M money is extra)

    1. Do i need to buy in lump sum (2M divided in 5 stocks and keep it for 5 years) or
    2. Divide the 2M for 1 year and Buy 5 stocks monthly.

    Thanks

    • Hi. It really depends upon your preference. 🙂 If you prefer 1 or 2, it’s up to you. What I cam only advise is you don’t need to worry if you do either and you follow our Big 5 picks and you’re investing for 5 years like what you said here.

Philequity Fund has been the number 1 Equity Fund in the recent years and is still doing impressive record until this time so I highly recommend it too 🙂

I am planning to invest for long term so I am relying much in peso cost averaging and want to understand it. My question is if I am investing my 5k every month and buying stocks what ever amount it is.Does buying a lower price stock of it will make my average lower? So in this kind of reasoning should i buy higher price of the stock so as to make my average high? Am I correct of perceiving things. Thanks Ms. Fehl

    • When you buy stocks regularly, your estimated profit will be computed based on the Ave. price. The shortcut formula is Profit = Price of the Stock Today – Ave. Price x Number of Shares

Thus, the lower your Ave. Price, the more profit you’ll have when you sell the stocks

I follow your magic ten strategy though I only have 2 BF and 2 FF in my portfolio as of now but Iam planning to add when I have the budget based on your recommendation. 🙂 it feels good to learn all these things from you especially when I see red on my portfolio. If I did not read your valuable advise, I could have been in panic mode and sell my stocks and be a loser. 😉

      • This is so true. I was panicking with my BLOOM stocks since its price has been going down and consequently my losses have been going up. I was tempted to sell. I actually attempted to sell at a slightly higher price than market price, but as expected there were no takers. I switched strategy and instead bought additional stocks at a low price. This brought down my BLOOM stock’s average price and somewhat tempered my losses.
Now i know that instead of selling when your stocks are in the red, you should actually buy!

  297. Hi Fehl, I really like this page, actually it is in my bookmark. Newbie question, well lets assumed all investors are following the same strategy, buying at BBP and selling when reaching TP, do we need not to worry about selling stocks at TP since most people are at the same position which are selling their stocks also. They wouldn’t buy yours for sure, since it is at peak price. What if I need to sell it urgently to buy other stocks that are currently bullish. So basically I would be short in budget, and perhaps would loose the opportunity of buying at the right time. 2nd question, can we sell the stocks back to the company. I read article before that the company is somehow buying their own stocks, I forgot why =)

Thanks and I hope you can spare me your time.

  303. Hi Fehl,
I was a former subscriber of dailypik it’s realy very informative, easy to understand and what made it more awesome is when you offered it for FREE. On my very early days investing I followed your principle although I dont have all of them on my port. But I do have till now 2 from fantastic 5 and 3 from your big 5 list. I have MBT, and I’m now comfortable and happy with my gains in about 4 months my ave price is about 10 notches below the current. I don’t have that much volume on my possession because I always have second thoughts of adding, alittle bit wary that I will be doing average up rather than the normal averaging down. I did that on one of my other stock which is not on your list CEB I got it at 83 I did average up, now it’s 87 I lost almost all my gains My consolation now is least it’s still green on my port… My query…your action for MBT is BUY. do you follow certain criteria when to buy more or just buy below the BBP also SRO will be offered any time soon and I believe giving out dividends as well.I have read somewhere that SRO will offered at 73.50 true or not is there a possibility that the price may dive that low? after SRO and Dividend? My appologies for this lengthy query your insights is highly appreciated thank you so much in advance and God bless..

    • Hi, Jasper. I’m happy with you sticking with some of your stocks still. I have 9 of those stocks from Magic 10 right now except FGEN which was added few days ago. All Big 5 and 4 Fantastic 5. I also have CEB which I started investing when I posted that Buy Alert in FB I think at the end of 2014 pa. CEB was nearing the TP and I was excited to sell it but at the middle of January almost all stocks rebounded and started to move slower than usual. I guess I have to sell CEB when it reached 120ish and buy other stocks instead.

MBT stock rights will be offered at 73.50ish according to COL and it will start on March 23. From our picks, it’s still BUY because buying MBT will benefit us more than HOLDING for now. The raise in capital is expected to raise MBT value as well. Besides, I also consider COL’s recommendation in the moment which is BUY as well. 🙂

I really really like your posts! Everything’s very helpful. I would like to ask how much is the minimum amount to buy a stock na hindi ako lugi sa mga extra fees? Thanks!

    Reply
    • The commission is usually charged at .25% or Php20 whichever is higher. Based on this, you will be charged Php20 for buying stocks Php8000 or lower. So i guess it is best to buy them at a minimum of 8k as anything lower will be charged P20 anyway.

That is, if you buy stocks worth 7k, the commission should be 17.5, but since that is lower than 20, they will charge you 20, plus vat of 12% of 20, not 17, so the minimum vat is also at php2.4.

But I guess if it will take a bit of a longer time to raise this 8k and buy one particular stock with it, the 20peso charge might be offset as you may get more interest if you purchase now rather than later.

Does this make sense, Fehl? 😉

      • I agree with you Rege 🙂 I think it’s not too much of a burden to pay those little fees when you will earn anyway when you sell even though there is sales tax added.

  312. Hi Fehl! Investing in stocks is new to me and I’ve been reading a lot of your posts to educate me. They have been most helpful so I say thank you so much! Please bear with what might seem stupid questions from a newbie :).

What if most investors in the stock market would follow your Magic 10 method and we all end up selling at the same time a particular stock pick when it reaches its Target Price? Will this affect “saleability” of said shares?

My other question is, when is a sale posted as an increase in your Cash Balance? Is it when you post a stock for sale or upon actual trade? I would assume it will be upon actual trade/purchase by a buyer right? .. this is related to my first question 🙂

    Reply
    • Hi, Christine. Your questions are smart and they are not stupid. 🙂 You have an amazing mind. I always consider myself newbie as well coz I like to learn more and more.

If most investors would follow Magic 10 stocks, it would likely cause prices to rise because stocks prices rise when there are more buyers than sellers of a certain stock. And when we (all) sell at the same time, that would cause the opposite. However, I don’t think we are too many investors following this exact picks. Perhaps, an obvious effect would be possible if our followers here are 2 million or more and we all buy and sell at the same time at the same day 🙂

Yes, when the sale order has been executed rather than posted 🙂

    • Hi, Salie. You’re welcome. Magic 10 contains different stocks compared to the Undervalued page. BDO is among the Big 5 stocks if you use Magic 10 however, if you use Flipping Undervalued Stocks, that’s another story. If you’re into Magic 10, follow it and if you have extra funds or you want to try out flipping other stocks, you can do that too.

    • Hi. There is really no definite time of the day. The stock market is always unpredictable. But if you have the Target, just follow it and stick to it. 🙂

  320. Hi Fehl, Im a bit confused. I want to invest in stock market as a long term investor.
So I plan to buy shares from those big five that u listed. I have monthly budget of 10K Does it mean that I will just buy stocks regularly without considering highs or lows?

I’ve seen some of TRC SAM table, i did not see JFC, URC & ALI there. So I do not know the BBP of these Big 5. And also I saw that sometimes TRC advices its followers to sell. Does it mean that this SAM table is for active traders/short term investor and not for long term investor ?

Because the way I understand from ur other post is that Long term investor does not sell stocks every now and then, we just keep on buying stocks regularly, and set our target date say 10 or 20 years etc before we sell our stocks,,,,

Im a newbie, i just got my COL account activated last week.
And I am planning to start investing…..

    Please help!
    Thanks!
    Don from UAE

    • Hi. Our Big 5 stocks are different from SAM. We recommend Big 5 for long term and we focus on building them up. We focus on Target Time rather than Target Price. If your budget is only 10K, I recommend you start with URC and JFC. Please read our Magic 10 stocks post to learn more about it. God bless!

    • Hi. Thank you for the kind words. You can choose from our Fantastic 5 stocks and follow the BBP and TP. Pick the one with the highest estimated growth if you’re just starting to invest.

  322. Hi Fehl,

Thank you for your informative and generous website, you are doing all of us a big favor by sharing your knowledge and experience, and i salute you.

I would like to ask how you derive the annual yield column in this post, as it is quite different from the numbers I see from pse figures, perhaps I am using the wrong values. Is it ttm (trailing twelve months)?

    thanks a million.

    • Hi Rege. My pleasure. The estimated growth for the Fantastic 5 above is the growth percentage of the Price Today to the Target Price while the 1-yr Return from the Big 5 stocks were taken from Bloomberg. I used the annual yield for the B5 stocks because we don’t have Target Price and BBP for them. PS: We made AY into 1-Yr Return to be more specific.

  323. Hi Fehl

I am planning to invest to the 5 Big companies using the PCA strategy. I’m planning to invest 20,000 quarterly dividing the funds into 5 companies.

Here’s my current computation assuming that I will avail the minimum board lot per company:

    ALI- 35.4 x 100shares =3540
    BDO- 111.5 x 10 shares = 1115
    JFC – 225x 10shares = 2250
    SM – 903.5 x 10 shares = 9035
    URC – 225 x 10 shares = 2250

The total will be 18,190 pesos. Thus it will give me 1810pesos unused fund.

    The question now;
    1. Can I use the remaining 1810pesos to buy more shares in my top 5 companies just to maximize my invested fund?

    2. Am I still following the rule of PCA whereas I just diversify my funds into 5 different companies? even though I will invest a fixed amount (20k) on a quarterly basis?

Hopefully I will here some kind advise from you because it keeps on haunting me. I really wanted to start ASAP but I wanted to start with a clean state of mind.

Thank you much Ms Fehl. God bless

    Regards,
    Allen

    • Hi, Allen. Yes, you can use your unused fund from your regular budget adding shares. I recommend you add shares to either URC and JFC since the 2 are always strong, impressive and growing. Yes, if you invest regularly with same companies, you’re following averaging method. Happy investing! God bless you as well. 🙂

Luckily, i was able to start uitf last january 7 and i already got a 4.5% ROI in 3 weeks with UCPB. I also started stock market last week and i already have several items in my port but they still have to catch up. Im sure your picks will me help a lot in the days to come. God bless.

        • Congrats on your UITF investment. Equities are on the rise these days and so are stocks. They remind us to keep calm a bit. 🙂 Cheers!

          • Yes, I think if the investor is ready, it is indeed a good form of discipline, but even though Fehl is a wild rider on the equities it is because she is educated in this field and does this every day, like I do, so do not feel bad if we have fun here but also take this very seriously
